National Youth Leadership Training

July 9-14, 2012

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an action-packed program designed for Boy Scouts and Venturers to provide them with the leadership skills and experiences they can use in their units and throughout life, where good leadership is the key for success.

The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what a leader must KNOW, and what a leader must DO.  The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO.  The skills come alive during the week as the team goes on a Quest for The Meaning of Leadership.  Content is delivered using a Troop and Patrol model in an outdoor setting with an emphasis on the immediate application of learning in a fun environment.

Through activities, presentations, challenges, discussions, and audio-visual support, NYLT Participants will be engaged in a unified approach to leadership that will give them the skill and confidence to lead well.  Through a wide range of activities, games, and adventures, participants will work and play together as they put into action the best scouting has to offer.

NYLT is a six-day course that will be offered at Wallwood the second week in July.  It is open to all Boy Scouts 13 and older

who are at least First Class and have attended a long term camp.  NYLT is also open to any Venturer, male or female.  The cost

will be $200, which covers all fees, materials, meals, and NYLT items (T-shirts, cap, and other special recognition items).  Add

an extra week of camp this summer or give an older Scout or Venture a different challenge by giving them the opportunity to

learn and live what being a good leader is all about!  Look for registration to begin in January.
