What is Scouts BSA Summer Camp?

Who should come? All Troops or individual Scouts are welcome to our Camp! Any Scouts BSA members of all ages with adult leadership.

What? Tired of just being a number at a mega camp that over crowds scouts each week without providing the cheerful service of individualized attention, great programs, and a truly memorable camp experience? Consider Wallwood Scout Reservation, a camp that has been in operation since 1966.

This is what Scouting is all about! Scouts earning Merit Badges both Eagle required and not; fulfilling rank advancement; forming bonds of brotherhood around the campfires and learning how to become a true Scout.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

Who should come? Scouts BSA and Venturing members aged 14 and up

What? National Youth Leadership Training is the top leadership training available for youth. It is a week long program offered by trained NYLT Staff. NYLT is an intense outdoor leadership training experience for youth leaders. The course goal is prepare young men to become superior leaders in their Troop, their district and other organizations they belong to now and in the future.

Participants learn to use current corporate leadership skills within the framework of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. The course is led and taught by some of the best youth leaders in the Council; all of whom are graduates of the NYLT program and typically have staffed multiple courses. The adult advisors who assist the Youth Staff are Wood Badge-trained with extensive experience in training programs.

The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what a leader must KNOW, and what a leader must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.

NYLT is a six-day course. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate application of learning in a fun environment. Interconnecting concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use of memory aids, which allows participants to understand and employ the leadership skills much faster.

When? Typically the first full week of the Summer after Memorial Day. Please see the upcoming events page here for more information!
