Trailblazer Program at Wallwood

First Year Program

Wallwood Boy Scout Reservation is a fun experience for all ages of scouts, but our Trailblazer program is designed to ensure that your new Scouts blaze their trail by starting off strong! During this week-long program, each Scout will learn and apply the core tenants of the patrol method and participate in projects that will enable him or her to earn a significant number of requirements for the first four ranks in the Scouts BSA program.

Scoutmaster participation is encouraged to help give individual attention to these new Scouts, so please check with the Trailblazer staff if you’d like to assist! If not, we do have activities designed to prepare new Scout Leaders for the rigors of camping, summer camp, and year round programs.

Requirements and Recommended items:

On top of all the recommended items in the Leader’s Guide, all participants should bring a personal/troop first aid kit that includes the following items:

  • 5 band-aids

  • 1 tube antiseptic cream

  • Latex gloves

  • 2 roller bandages

  • Alcohol swabs

  • Moleskin
